Ever wondered why titanium is called a space age metal? There are plenty of reasons for this moniker. First, this metal has a low density at the same time it is an extremely strong and is able to withstand seawater and chlorine corrosion. In appearance, it is lustrous and has a silver color.
As the ninth most abundant element in the earth's crust, you can find titanium in igneous rocks. It occurs in rutile, ilmenite, sphene, and many iron ores and titanates. Other sources are coal ash, plants and even the human body. The sun and meteorites are also sources of titanium.

When doing this, the metal is exposed to high-temperatures to remove surface atoms. This also exposes the fresher molecules of the element which becomes immediately oxidized. In addition, this amazing metal is utilized in surgical instruments for image-guided surgery. It can be made into wheelchairs, crutches and other products where high strength and low weight are required.
